Additional Information
With a burning desire to make a modern day hip hop classic for the world, Mindbender emerges from a year long, starving artist hiatus with his new double album, "Beautiful Mutant". Produced primarily by up and coming sound architects Dorc and Vangel, plus a couple fresh creations by the Nextakin crew, and Bookworm of the Oddities (Battleaxe Records), Mindbender follows up his critically-acclaimed "Fantasyland Before Time" LP released November 2001 {"...listening to his debut LP, one would scarcely guess that underground MC Mindbender hails from Toronto, let alone Planet Earth" - Chart Magazine, Feb 2003} with this two part concept album ,"Beautiful Mutant". It is 21 tracks of incredible beats and mind bending rhymes that are guaranteed to make a lasting impression, and take Mindbender the MC to the next level. "Fantasyland Before Time" was created to try and represent the most powerful underground album in Toronto history {"Mindbender's rapid-fire spitting and complex rhymes combined with spaced-out Dorc production, creates a completely out of universe experience" - Pound Magazine, #16, April 2003} and now with "Beautiful Mutant", Mindbender and crew are attempting to take their music making and song crafting skills anywhere in the world... and to anyone with their ears and their mind open.

Since forming the group The Supreme Being Unit with twin brother Conspiracy and Ottawa friend Kelron, their first cassette-only album, "The First Great Pyramid", was released in 1996, selling 1000 copies through hand-to-hand distribution networks across Canada. This was followed up with 1997's certified underground classic, "Mental Reverse/Spiritual Rebirth", a two part concept album recorded in 2 days {"Twenty-two tracks deep, this is a revolution in the sound medium. Don?t sleep." - Urb Magazine, Record Report, May 1998}. Supreme Being Unit pushed their second album to sell over 3,000 copies on CD, cassette and vinyl, across the world through underground networks and online sales, remaining virtually unknown in their own country, yet receiving praises from publications based in cities as diverse as San Francisco, New York, Australia, France, and Israel {"The Supreme Being Unit from Toronto are powerful, to say the least. Their new album is a refreshing entry... SBU is very easy to listen to an no group has kicked so many conspiracy theories since the glory days of Public Enemy.' Insomniac Magazine, from Miami, Florida, Issue #9, 1998 / "?Outstanding debut." - independents day, Hip Hop Connection from London, England, Slick Rick Cover, 1998}. A cult-like following developed from there, and the myth of Supreme Being Unit began to grow and spread through the underground scene like many of the great artists that had created adventurous music before them.

Mindbender and Conspiracy then moved back to the city of their birth, Toronto, to maximize their chances for success. Time went on, and due to an unforseen turn of events, Conspiracy decided to move to Edmonton, Alberta to continue his career, where he still lives, records music, and performs today. Mindbender stayed in Toronto to continue the legend of SBU, with his trademark high energy live performances and electrifying instrumentals. He performed at over one hundred shows, from Project Blowed in Los Angeles with Aceyalone and Abstract Rude, to backing up Cannibal Ox and El-Producto of Company Flow during the Rocksteady 22th Anniversary Celebration in New York City in July, 2001. Mindbender has opened up for, and shared the microphone with artists like Del the Funky Homosapien, Blackalicious, Aesop Rock, MF Doom, dead prez, Slug from Atmosphere, Mystic, the Alkaholiks, Styles of Beyond, and Souls of Mischief, among others. On top of recording on over 200 songs, including the highly anticipated acapella album, "Invisible Rhythm Showcase", Mindbender's catalogue of songs is quietly growing to become a treasured Canadian phenomenon. With this passionate vocalist participating in many side projects, plus having many unreleased songs and lost studio sessions that are only now being found and remastered to be released, Mindbender is destined to be one of Canada's most notorious hip hop lyricists.

Having already established a loyal following in Toronto and New York, with critics making comparisons to Company Flow, De La Soul, Saul Williams, Ras Kass and Pharaohe Monch, Mindbender is on the very brink of making his own history. In the 7 year hiatus between Supreme Being Unit albums, he spent much of his solo time improving his songwriting, studying the music industry, learning new musical ideas, and expanding his live performance impact. Yet, there are those who wait patiently for another album by SBU collectively as they remember the historic LP {"Conspiracy and Mindbender are the two MC/DJ/producers laying down insane otherworldly uncut dope on this 'Mental Reverse/Spiritual Rebirth'. Their lyrical barrage is so thick, dense and unrelenting, you are forced to rewind several times to let it all enter your mind? Calling all heads - support true hip hop, right in your backyard." Hour Magazine, March 1998}, and they will be delighted to hear the new Supreme Being Unit album soon to be released, called "In Space No One Can Hear You Rhyme", recorded with Conspiracy in January 2004.

With the long-awaited, highly anticipated double disc "Beautiful Mutant" concept album finally finished, and ready to be released to the world, Mindbender's long overdue time to shine has finally come. Mindbender music is the sound of true school hip hop from the past and the sound of the future, simultaneously. That is the definition of Futurecho Records, for 2004. Stay connected to Mindbender, because they just don't make MC like they used to...

"like Grandmaster Flash in glass / The Message in a bottle / All-eye CN Tower over the hip hop nation and represent Toronto / with a burning hot soul / to let you all know..." - Mindbender featuring Eternia - "Eternal Peace of Mind", Beautiful Mutant
