It is a refreshing return to the original sound of Hip Hop: A blend of jazz grooves with acoustic live instruments and poetic and introspective lyrics that defy the ?bling-bling? themes of contemporary mainstream rap, instead reflecting the realities of a childhood spent in Chicago?s gritty innercity.

Far from a plea for pity by the unfortunate, however, LongShot embraces his duty as a role model to his listeners with soulful and positive messages that preach self-reliance, hope, and the rewards of hard work.
