| Additional Information |
Live and direct out of the Brooklyn borough on down to Philly, JNEIRO JAREL is digging his way up through the underground hip hop music scene. Introducing himself to the world as the boom bap producing, melodic funk having, jazzy soul vibe giving cat of the neo era! Bringing blazing mellow hip hop tracks reminiscent of the early Native Tongues and Digable Planets sound, but with his own twist that not too many have been able to capture! At the age of 5, JNEIRO JAREL'S family moved out of the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. His mother was in the army, and as a result, he lived in many places. (Maryland, Arizona, Georgia, etc.) Finally touching down in Houston TX in the mid 80's, his cousin "DJ Starr" put him on to hip hop at an early age. Exposing him to artists such as Ultramagnetics, T La Rock, Joe Ski Love and Zulu Nation just to name a few. He developed a true love for the art and began to freestyle over instrumentals with his friends in the hood.
At the age of 14, JNEIRO JAREL started taking music more seriously. His manager at the time had him open up for acts like HI FIVE, YZ, SPECIAL ED, etc. (89-90). Eventually, he formed a group in which he produced called "THE SLUM KIDS" aka ?Rhythmic Crew? (92). This group consisted of AAHTUE and NAHUMA who are featured on ?Let?s Get Wit It? on debut album ?Three Piece Puzzle.? Rocking shows and free-styling with THE PHARCYDE, PRODIGY OF MOBB DEEP, THE GETO BOYS, etc. Life in H-Town's underground hip hop scene was all good, but in 98, JNEIRO JAREL felt he had to leave the group and relocate back to NY in order to broaden his musical horizon. Rocking open mics at the "BLACK LILY" (OKAYPLAYER.COM), blazing gigs at THE WETLANDS and BUTTERFLY CAFE', In 2003 he was discovered by HANK SHOCKLEE (PUBLIC ENEMY) and opened up for JULIE DEXTER at Hank's event "Soul Vibration." He also opened for LORD FINESSE at Head Shop. JNEIRO JAREL was the sole representative from New York to participate and perform at THE RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY in Cape Town, South Africa. Through his success in the indie-music scene, he has come to link up with well known dee jay/producers such as RICH MEDINA , KING BRITT and THE MARKSMEN. He also has collaborated with JAZZANOVA, DKD, LIZZ FIELDS, TIOMBE LOCKHART, FERTILE GROUND, ANDREW EDWARD BROWN & VINIA MOJICA. Showing his diversity as a producer, JNEIRO JAREL has teamed up with artists such as ROCQUE WUN, MEL OWENS, CAPITAL PEOPLES and DR. WHO DAT? Producing a wide range of styles from acid jazz, afro-brazilian, hip-hop to broken beat. He is currently putting out projects with Kindred Spirits/Rush Hour, as well as his most recent venture Label Who?
You can't go wrong with this kat! JNEIRO JAREL is hip hop's new answer!
